The didge festival season has finally kicked in again and I'm over in England for The Gathering which starts tomorrow evening. The weather forecast is less than brilliant so it looks like it's going to be even mor intimate than usual. Hope to see some of you there !
21 April 2008
Austria has apparently lost two of its didge websites, now down to just five... come on Austria, do something!
28 Feb 2008

Two sites down and one up. The Baman site in Iceland has gone, taking Iceland right off the Didgeworld map, and in Belgium, Outside of Time has gone too, but the good news in this case is that it's been replaced by the Didgeclub Forum. Thanks to the two Steves for letting me know !
6 Feb 2008
A site less today. The Saltburn Dige Club in the UK has closed its doors and website due to the poor health of its organiser Kev Serginson.
4 Feb 2008
Another site up in the Netherlands section from player Jerry de Jonge. Lots of MP3 samples of Jerry's music
3 Feb 2008
Yes, we're already into February, and with the Spring not so far away any more, I thought I'd see what I could do about the Didgeworld world didgeridoo festival list. Almost everyone seems to be pretty together this year for a change and the dates are up on the great majority of the festival websites already. Checkout what's going on near you - click on World Didgeridoo Festival List near the top of the main menu on the left. And please, if you know of another didgeridoo festival anywhere, let me know
21 Jan 2008
The New Year is already well upon us and I thought I'd celebrate by pulling myself together and putting a few new sites up. The two latest are idoo.info in the GB section and Didge Tree in the USA.
05 Dec 2007
Yes folks, yours truly has woken up again to start putting some new sites in. First up is A Dream I Had in the GB section. More coming soon!
15 Sept 2007
Been incredibly busy with this and that but pleased to announce that I now found time to add another site which has been waiting for a while: Hernan Livolsi's MySpace site. Nice to finally see another site in the Spanish section.
05 Sept 2007
Yes, it's back to corporate slavery for a couple of weeks already and I've only just managed to pull myself together and find a bit of energy for Didgeworld again. Just added Bernhard Pfeil's site BreathingInProgress to the German section. Check out the Hendrix style didge in "DE-Phased" on his samples page here: http://www.breathinginprogress.com/BPweb/BP_frameset.htm
20 July 2007
My corporate slavery will soon come to a temporary end again for 3 weeks, and I'm off to see family and friends in England, attending the One World festival (no, it's not a didge fest for a change, though there is a didge workshop amongst the other 100 or so over the week). I'll naturally also be at the very first Makers Gathering on August 3-4, as will (also as a first) Jeremy Cloake of "Resonance" fame and Stephen Kent. See you there?
10 July 2007
One person I saw again at Swizzeridoo was indigenous didgeridoo player and performer Jeremy Donovan, who informed me he does indeed have a website - and a damn good one it is too. Check it out in the Australia section.
09 July 2007
Back from Swizzeridoo. Saw a lot of you there, some of you for the first time. Good to catch up again. Next year's event is already scheduled for July 4-6 2008. One thing that surprised me was that there weren't more visitors, given the number of didgeridoo festivals that aren't happening this year, especially in Germany. There seemed to be about the same number of visitors as last year. The weather wasn't ideal of course, but then the concerts at least are all in the hall.
24 June 2007
A change in a site has actually been reported by the site's webmaster! Yes, John Brice, whose site is listed in the Great Britain section, has been very busy with all things didgy and to top it all, has now launched a completely new website. Check out JBL Presentations
15 June 2007
Yes, the blog's been quiet again for a good while, but I've not just been taking it easy. For those of you who haven't realised, my other site is Serious Sticks, home of a lively didge forum and shop for authentic Aboriginal didgeridoos. Christian, the other half of Serious Sticks, has been Down Under in Arnhem Land sourcing instruments for a few weeks, so I've had my hands full fielding enquiries, e-mails and orders. Apart from that, I've been busy getting stuff ready for the Swizzeridoo Festival (6-8 July), where we will have a stand again this year. I say a stand, it's really a small marquee (9mx3m) which we just acquired at vast expense. Hope to see you there !
28 May 2007
Another new site added: Llorca Music in the German section. Llorca sell the kind of didges you can find in more or less all the tourist shops in Australia. Not really my thing, but then a lot of stuff at DidgeWorld isn't ;-)
24 May 2007
Survived another year (my birthday yesterday). Finally a new site to link has popped up and hey, it's the site of Pamela Mortensen, multi-instrumentalist and performer in Seattle, USA. More info in the USA section - check it out !
21 May 2007
Another quick trip to England, where I visited Colin of Aboriginal Arts, the Ipswich didge club and attended a singing workshop, feast and concerts. I was so busy that I didn't even realise the Cup Final was going on until Saturday evening. As you may have guessed, I'm not a big football fan. Now it's Monday, and I'm back to the grindstone :-(
15 May 2007
I just went to check on Google how DidgeWorld is faring now that everything's more or less settled after The Big DidgeWorld Update. Place 5 on page 2. Not bad. I also happened to notice that Google now reports the word "didgeridoo" appearing 2,330,000 times on the internet. Add that to a few other spellings and names such as "didjeridu" (305,000), didge (289,000), "yidaki" (124,000) and you end up with an impressive figure. So maybe there's a few sites that aren't listed here at DidgeWorld after all ;-)
13 May 2007
If you've any brilliant ideas about DidgeWorld, speak up! Stimulate me! There's not really much new happening at the moment, is there?
12 May 2007
Ever wondered about how agave didges are made? Well, Jörg Unger's Agavenschreiner site has just been added to the German section. Jörg's site is in German only, but if your German isn't up to scratch there are plenty of photos of various phases in the construction and the tools used to give you the general idea.
09 May 2007
Been a bit quiet here? Yep, but now I'm back from The Gathering (thanks again Ant and Lin for another cracker) so I'll get around to a few updates like the couple of sites to be linked in the next couple of days.
26 April 2007
Now it can be told: the cancellation of Didje Fest UK in 2007 caused much disappointment, but now it's been replaced by the all-new Maker Didje Gathering on August 3 & 4. Links to detailed info and contact details can be found on the DidgeWorld Festivals page.
25 April 2007
The ultimate website for all those wanting definitive information on didjeridus, direct from an Aboriginal-owned website: stories, culture, playing, interviews, video, quotes - don't miss the brand new Dhäwu site - banner link on the right or in the Australia section. Enjoy !
22 April 2007
The didge sites in the Netherlands have been tidied up - three were dead and Startkabel has been added. Thanks again to Roland - it's not always easy sorting out sites in languages you can't read ;-)
19 April 2007
The Netherlands are back on the festival map with the Didge Your Life Up festival in Wieringwerf on 23 June. Featuring amongst others: Inner Strength, Mark Atkins, Lies Beijerinck and Michiel Teijgeler. Link and contact on the World Festivals page. Thanks to Roland for that.
17 April 2007
Good news from Martin: the Natibongo didge festival is back again this year at Cividale del Friuli in Italy, from 30 Aug to 1 Sept. The website isn't up yet, but more info will be available there soon - check the DidgeWorld Didgeridoo Festival List (link in the main menu on the left)
14 April 2007
Yikes! Winter suddenly became Spring, or where I live, more like Summer in fact. Time seems to be in turbo too - just three weeks until the Gathering now and people are starting to get excited about seeing all those friends again that somehow you only ever seem to see at festivals.
10 April 2007
Help! Please, if you notice a link doesn't work, a site has disappeared or the description is completely out of date, do everyone else a favour and let me know so I can change it. Somehow site owners are very keen to link their site in the first place, but almost no-one ever makes changes to their original description. With 370 sites linked, it's not easy to keep track on my own. Thanks for helping out!
9 April 2007
First big didge meet of the year and my favourite is The Gathering in the UK (5th and 6th of May). Not really a festival, more a sort of big didgeridoo family thing. More info here and my 2004 review for Didgeridoo & Co Magazine is here. Book early to avoid disappointment - this event is always a sellout !
8 April 2007
Yes it's Easter again, for those amongst you that celebrate it that is, the weather is warming up a bit here in Europe, and from experience the time when didgeridoo players start planning seriously which festivals they will visit. For your convenience, there's a didgeridoo festivals page at DidgeWorld for exactly this purpose, wherever you are in the world. Know something I don't? Please let me know.
7 April 2007
Think DidgeWorld is a good idea? Show your appreciation and promote your website by becoming a DidgeWorld sponsor. It won't cost you an arm and a leg, and where better to advertise a didgeridoo website than here? Note that the panel on the right remains as visitors navigate through DidgeWorld...
6 April 2007
Weeell, Google took off a few points and it was back to page three, but now it's up to the bottom of page two again. Up to the bottom? You know what I mean ;-)
5 April 2007
Finally caught up with adding the sites which have been on hold while I was doing the update. Thanks for your patience (you know who you are).
4 April 2007
A few refinements in the menu. Fingers crossed for the Google rating. As a hobby webmaster I have little hope of understanding the way Google works, but I have managed over the years to get DidgeWorld wavering between the bottom of page two and the top of page three. Hope it doesn't go down at least.
3 April 2007
THE BIG UPDATE
As you will perhaps have noticed, Didgeworld has had a long overdue facelift. The javascript menu has disappeared - it was taking longer and longer to load and although it was cute, it wasn't really useful - and usefulness is paramount for a site like this. So far the feedback has been positive, but if you don't like it or especially if something doesn't work, please let me know too:
